Groove Patterns and the Groove Pool

Related to Quantization are groove patterns. In the file browser, click the title bar and choose Library to access the library content, then open the grooves folder to display the groove templates. Open the swing folder, choose one of the groove templates and drag it onto a clip in your set, for instance, the drum loop. This instantly applies the timing characteristics of the groove template to your clip. Try another groove and have a listen to the clip. You can also open what is called the Groove Pool to edit the characteristics of each groove template in the set.
Each clip has a groove chooser in the bottom left corner that allows you to choose any grooves that have been added to the Groove Pool, but you can also enable the groove hot swap button to step through the grooves in the hot swap browser as the clip plays. You’ll see the hot swap button in other parts of the interface. Clicking it brings up related files and presets in the browser, allowing you to swap in and out alternative instruments, effects or grooves on the fly. Check out the different grooves and see what kind of beats you can come up with.
