Our 5 week Make Music with Ableton Live 8 course will equip beginner/intermediate students with the skills needed for recording music, using midi, using the sequencer, beat making, working with loops, audio editing, audio mixing, remixing, mastering, music production and live performance with the Ableton Live audio software suite.

• Support outside of class hours: Students can schedule face-to-face online support with their tutor via Skype Screen Sharing. Screen sharing not only allows you to show the tutor exactly what you’re talking about, it allows us to demonstrate what needs to be done in real time.

Ross Fortune (BMus)

Ableton Live & Logic Pro Course Instructor
Ross has built up more than 8 years of experience teaching music and music technology at a number of schools, and now brings his expertise to our Ableton Live and Logic Pro courses. An honours graduate from the UCD School of Music, Ross is a multi-instrumentalist and also composes for film and commercial advertising.
Ross started his audio production company Secret Sound Society in 2010, and has since built up an impressive client list. You can hear his scoring work at his website, or check out the player below to hear tracks he has produced under the performing pseudonym Benny Smiles.

Course Outline

Our next 5 week DJ course starts on Tuesday 21st February and will equip students with the skills needed for DJing vinyl, CDJs and Traktor. You will cover not only the technical aspects of DJing but also the art of flow and reading the audience, as well as valuable guidance on getting yourself out there, getting club gigs and getting heard by the right people.

Classes are held in the Basement venue of the Twisted Pepper in Dublin city centre, where students can learn to DJ and practice on one of Ireland’s best club sound systems. You’ll be standing in the footsteps of legendary DJs including Carl Craig, DJ Yoda and Ben Klock to name a few, and who knows, your name could end up on that list too…

DJ Tutor
Dublin based artist/producer Aaron Costello is the founder of vinyl label Signal Code. An honours graduate of the Dublin Sound Training Centre, Aaron is a veteran live performer and has appeared at countless club nights the length and breadth of the city over the last decade.
Performing and producing under the name Subsignal for over 10 years, he has numerous releases under his belt on his own label and others and has succeeded in securing their physical distribution worldwide.
